Chartered Clinical Psychologist
Hi, I’m Laura!
I’m a Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) and British Psychological Society (BPS) and I have 14 years’ experience of working with children and young people with mental health difficulties.
Since qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist in 2009 I have worked for a range of NHS services including Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, Learning Disability Services and Psychology Services for Looked After Children.
I am able to work with children, young people and their families with a range of mental health difficulties including depression, anxiety, phobias, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Behavioural Difficulties, Attachment Difficulties, ASD or ADHD. I am trained to use a range of different therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). I am also able to offer parenting support using a range of different parenting models.
I can offer cognitive and psychological assessments to gain a greater understanding of a child’s strengths, difficulties and learning needs.
As a psychologist, I work by firstly gaining an understanding of a client’s difficulties, through conducting a detailed assessment. Once complete this information is used to formulate a psychological understanding of a client’s needs and to inform a therapeutic intervention. This could be therapy, but could also include further assessment, family work or work with parents, carers or school systems.
I currently offer appointments at the Wimborne Therapy Centre.
If you are interested learning more about what I could offer, feel free to contact me by phone on 07793 891 458 or by email firstname.lastname@example.org.
