What I can offer
If you are considering counselling then it’s quite possible that you are having a difficult time with a situation or situations in your life and are looking for some help and support in dealing with those problems. Being on your own with them can be a heavy burden to carry and you may be looking for a safe, non-judgemental space to be with someone who is prepared to sit with you and listen.
As a qualified counsellor I believe I can provide that safe and un-conditional environment in which you can explore the troubles in your life and fulfil your capacity for positive growth; a capacity that we all have within ourselves.
My work is person centred and as each of us is unique, my approach is to draw on a range of therapeutic perspectives to provide support in a way that is individual to your needs. In my counselling practice I have much experience working with young people and their experience of life’s problems, but have also explored with people of all ages, their sense of what it is to be human, helping those suffering from bereavement and many other difficulties.
I came to counselling after a long career as a Dental surgeon, having qualified from Guy’s Hospital London and I’ve been local to this area since 1976. In my time as a clinician I became experienced in working with anxiety and feel confident in my ability to put people at ease. I have always enjoyed working with people and wished to continue that connection when I finished being a dentist so I moved on to counselling.
I trained and qualified as a Humanistic and Integrative Counsellor at Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling after retiring from my work as a dentist. As a registered counsellor I have been working with Wimborne Therapy Centre for a while, at the same time as working for ‘Cruse’, having completed their training in Bereavement Care.
As a matter of record, my qualifications are: –
BDS (Guys Hospital),
Dip Counselling (BCPC) MBACP
Level 2 Foundation in ‘Awareness of Bereavement Care, Cruse
And I am continuously updating and expanding my knowledge and capabilities through Continuing Professional Studies
As a member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy, I work within their ethical framework for good practice and confidentiality
My fee for each 50 min session is £35.00. However, there is no charge for an initial telephone consultation. I am able to offer some concessionary rates.
