Dr Leanne Timings, CPsychol, PsychD, HCPC – Clin. Psych.

I have worked in the NHS for over fifteen years in various clinical psychology settings. This has involved working with individuals of all ages, couples, families, and groups and I have enjoyed roles in neuropsychology, child and adolescent and adult services. I strive to support others to make sense of difficulties, develop understanding and new perspectives, and improve wellbeing and quality of life.

Alongside my private practice, I spend part of my week working in the NHS in an Older People’s Community Mental Health Team Psychology Service, which provides a range of psychological input including specialist psychological therapy and neuropsychological assessment to adults aged over 65.

In my private practice, I offer psychological therapy to individuals of all ages. I specialise in working with individuals experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, relational issues and overwhelming emotions. I also have specialist training in working with people recovering from Trauma. I believe that we are all unique and the way we make sense of ourselves, others and the world is often linked with our past experiences, fears, and strategies we have learned to navigate the world and other people in an attempt to feel safe. I understand how difficult it can be to seek therapy, so for me it is very important to develop a collaborative, empathic working relationship to help individuals to feel safe and work through difficulties in a way that feels manageable.

Values

As a therapist, I hold certain values that guide my approach to helping individuals. Firstly, I aim to support people in understanding their difficulties without placing blame or shame on them. I believe in helping my clients learn new ways to improve their well-being and relationships. Additionally, I value empathy, consistency, and unconditional positive regard. I strive to approach each client with openness, while maintaining appropriate therapeutic boundaries. I believe in earning my clients’ trust through trustworthy and patient practice.

Moreover, I hold myself to ethical and evidenced-based practices and take into consideration cross-cultural sensitivity. I am passionate about continually learning and expanding my knowledge to better serve my clients.
